Hi, I’m Katie McCusker.
I’m driven by a lifelong connection to South Australia and a deep commitment to social, economic, and environmental justice.
I was born in Adelaide, and have lived in South Australia almost my entire life. I am a mother raising my son in Adelaide’s east, and a proven community leader.
My whole career has been dedicated to improving people’s wellbeing and supporting the community from the ground up; from working as a public health administrator to serving as a passionate renters’ advocate.
I’ve been an active member of the Greens SA since 2005, and have held many roles within the party such as convenor, candidate, and political staffer. This grassroots experience has given me a comprehensive understanding of the movement and a sharp insight into the ever-changing Australian political landscape.
I have demonstrated my commitment and ability to connect with voters and lead by example to build a powerful grassroots movement as the candidate for the federal electorate of Sturt in 2022 and 2025 - and more recently as a Legislative Council candidate in the 2026 state election.
As someone who cares deeply about our community, it’s devastating to see how many people are struggling to make ends meet. I believe we have a real opportunity to change that.
Parliament has the power to stop allowing corporations to make record profits at the expense of everyday people, and take real action to tackle the problems we face. South Australia deserves better.
If preselected for the Senate, I will continue to:
- Advocate fiercely for renters, families, and everyday people.
- Help more households make the switch to affordable, clean green energy.
- Make big corporations pay their fair share so we can reinvest that money directly into funding more public and affordable housing.
