Hi, I’m Katie
I make no secret of what drives me - I want a better future for all of us.
I am putting my hand up to run for the Senate because community connection matters.
With a solid public profile and strong experience in representing the Greens, I have the respect of party members across the country and strong relationships with many organisations. I was proud to lead the largest lower house campaign in SA, strengthening our Greens movement to deliver for people and planet. I’ve spent years fighting the major parties for serving their corporate donors instead of tackling the problems people face, and I am as ready as ever to take that fight into the Australian Parliament.
I have the determination, tenacity, and the proven track record of shifting the political dial with large swings towards the Greens in many of my previous campaigns. I offer a unique blend of experience across parliament and movement building to Greens members in South Australia.

Previous Candidacies
NORWOOD - STATE ELECTION 2010
This was the first time I ran as a candidate for the Greens, and we achieved 11.8% of the vote, a swing of 3%!
STURT - FEDERAL ELECTION 2022
In 2022, we secured a 5.2% swing to the Greens. Prior to the Greens’ targeting lower house seats in South Australia, we didn’t have many resources from state office so this was a real team effort that I lead from my kitchen table.
As the candidate, I organised doorknocks, letterboxing, and corflute installation with a small team of legendary volunteers. This was just the start of our movement in Sturt and a real turning point for us here and this amazing grassroots campaign was the catalyst for bigger things to come in 2025 and into the future!
DUNSTAN - STATE BY-ELECTION 2024
In 2024, we saw a historic swing of 5.5% swing towards the Greens and an overall primary vote of 19.2%.
Amazing numbers of volunteers came from all over the state to help with the by-election campaign and helped us to achieve this amazing swing towards the Greens!
This by-election was the first time that the Greens SA doorknocked at scale during a campaign and showed how successful it can be when you have meaningful conversations with people at their front door.
As the candidate, I lead doorknocks, met with community leaders and groups, letterboxed and made phone calls to both supporters and volunteers, and had a number of interviews with ABC 891.
STURT - FEDERAL ELECTION 2025
In 2025, because of all of our amazing work together in Sturt in 2022 and in the Dunstan by-election in 2024 - thousands of Greens SA volunteers were able to tell my local community in Sturt that if just 1 in 10 people changed their voters, we could win in Sturt.
I put myself forward as the candidate again and we worked hard to share our positive Greens’ message with my home electorate once again. We have never had an on-the-ground campaign as big as this for the Greens SA and I was so proud to lead this as the candidate and be able to work with so many amazing volunteers.
Unfortunately, we fell short, but despite that together we made history and ran the Greens SA’s biggest grassroots campaign yet, building the foundations for bigger and better Greens’ campaigns in the future!
Together we:
Knocked on almost 40,000 doors
Letterboxed the whole electorate (50,000+ households) several times
Made almost 7000 phone calls to both supporters and voters
Had 520 corflutes installed on fences
Over 400 people volunteered on a polling booth
LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL - STATE ELECTION 2026
In 2026, we made history AGAIN for the Greens SA with the highest ever vote across South Australia and had over 3000 volunteers involved in every corner of the state. And we were so close to winning this time - achieving first runner up! Which only made me even more inspired to get back out on the campaign trail.
Campaigning for the Legislative Council was such an amazing experience because I got to work with so many of our members and volunteers across the state and all of the different branches.
A highlight of this campaign for me was engaging and helping to grow the broader Greens movement. It was incredibly rewarding and strengthened my resolve to continue representing the people of this state.
